Frequently Asked Questions
Why come to counselling?
Facing problems alone can be a difficult task for anyone. Counselling offers a space where people can face these challenges in a safe, confidential, non-judgmental and understanding manner. As counsellors we engage with you on your terms to speak and work through issues without pressure.
What issues do you work with?
People seek counselling for many reasons, but the base is a desire to make a change within their lives. Whether this is working to reduce their stress or improve their understanding of the social world around them. No issue is to small or large for counselling, and I allow space for people to confidentially work through any concern they struggle with.
I work with many issues, ranging from general stress, anxiety, depression, relationship concerns, sexuality and gender identity, social skills difficulties, and trauma. I specialize in work with neurodivergent (Autism, ADHD) individuals and their families and approach all these issues through a neuro-affirming lens.
Do you work with youth?
I have extensive experience working with under 18's. I approach these cases from a family lens and work with parents and caregivers in tandem with the youth involved. This may look like counselling sessions involving the youth only, caregivers only, or the family as a unit.
